Independent Sector, a leadership network for non-profit staff nationally, is awarding scholarships to its 2012 Conference (“GameChangers“) happening on November 11 & 12 in San Francisco. The annual conference brings together a diverse cast of non-profit thought leaders to speak on innovative trends and best practices shaping our industry today. With a program that begins with a lunch plenary featuring Arianna Huffington and ends with a tribute to Jeff Skoll and Jeff Edmondson, we urge you to apply if you fit the following criteria! The application deadline is September 14, 2012.
The Independent Sector Scholarship program targets leaders of small and medium-sized nonprofits who represent and work with underrepresented groups (especially African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities). Eligible participants are talented and innovative leaders and professionals at small and medium sized nonprofit organizations with an annual budget of less than $5 million.
There are four categories of scholarship support available:
- General conference scholarships;
- Arts scholarships for talented and innovative nonprofit professionals using various forms of artistic expression as vehicles for change;
- Public Policy Action Institute (PPAI) scholarships; and
- NGen scholarships for leaders under the age of 40 from the San Francisco Bay area, who are therefore eligible to participate in the NGen pre-conference program, which expands the nonprofit talent pool by developing the skills and networks of emerging and young leaders.
